Volunteers are needed for the 2024-2025 School Year!
The PTA is able to do all the wonderful things it does simply because of our incredible member volunteers! There are many areas where your time and talents can be utilized to help make Columbia Elementary a great place for our students.
Columbia Elementary PTA has many programs it runs every year. Check out our list of programs (below) and let us know you're interested in signing up for your favorite program. You can sign up to be a part of a team of volunteers, volunteer to lead a program as a chairperson, or express interest in helping in some other way. We are thankful for our members' help in any capacity!
Click HERE to fill in our volunteer interest form online.
Click HERE for our printable volunteer form to print and return to school in your child's backpack.
*Completing the interest form does not obligate you to volunteer. It allows the PTA Board to plan and organize interested families and ensure you are kept informed of the volunteer opportunities available throughout the year.*
On-campus volunteers are required to obtain a secure ID annually. Complete your background check today HERE through Madison City Schools. The cost is $18. If this is a burden to your family that might prevent you from being able to volunteer, please let us know at [email protected] so that we can help.

These programs could not be accomplished without the help of volunteers, funding, and Program Chairs! If you are interested in being a Program Chairperson, co-chair, or part of a team of volunteers, please reach out to [email protected] or fill out this online form HERE. We would love your support in any capacity. We sincerely appreciate your participation.

Back to School Picnic
Come out and meet your childrens' friends and make some new ones at our first PTA meeting of the year! Children will have access to the playground, some P.E. equipment, jump ropes, and more!
Reflections
The Reflections program is a creative arts competition sponsored by national, state and local PTA organizations. It provides an opportunity for children to express themselves artistically based on a common theme. The six competition categories are: literature, musical composition, photography, visual arts, dance choreography, and film/video production.
Trail of Treats
Come Trunk or Treat with your friends. It's always fun to see what our teachers and parents come up with for their trunk decorations.
Community Heroes Day
Let's celebrate our local community heroes! We are calling for a fire truck, an ambulance, a military vehicle, and a 911 dispatcher. If you know someone who would be interested in representing our community as one of our heroes please reach out to [email protected].
Multicultural Night
We will celebrate the seven continents and cultures of the countries. Students get their "passports" stamped as they "travel" the continents to learn about different countries. We encourage any parents that are willing to share the culture of another country to participate.
Out of this World Dance
Come join us for an Out of this World dance! Enjoy refreshments and music.
Space Week
Students will participate in science experiments and make predictions using the scientific method. Students will also hear from former International Space Station planners, a representative from the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) society and more. Students will also enjoy a model rocket demonstration thanks to the local rocketry club.
Columbia's Got Stars
Columbia's very own talent show. Do you or your child have a talent? Let us know!
End of the Year Astro Bash
Students will celebrate the end of the year with inflatable slides, games and more!
5th Grade Graduation and Social
Help us celebrate our 5th graders as they graduate to middle school. We want them to always know that the Astro family is behind them.
AstroDads
AstroDads is a group for dads and father-figures of Columbia students. Our AstroDads volunteer on designated Fridays and at many events. They take the time to read to our students and to volunteer in other capacities (sometimes this involves a dunk tank...). We love the support the AstroDads provide and the smiles from the kids when they see their adults at the school.
For more information or to volunteer, please email [email protected].
