I’m proud to announce the kickoff of Columbia’s “Jump Rope for Heart” campaign for the American Heart Association! This is one of our three yearly charitable campaigns. As a school community we use charitable campaigns to enhance our character education and wellness programs. Participation in fundraising is never mandatory for students. All students have the opportunity to participate in the planned activities regardless of money raised.

The note below is from our physical education department. I look forward to visiting the PE classes to test my fitness and lack of coordination! I encourage you to find a jump rope and join in the fun at home!

Dennis James
Principal Jump Rope for Heart is a fundraiser for the American Heart Association. Heart disease is the No.1 killer and stroke being 3rd in the world. Each student will learn about the importance of healthy eating and exercise to prevent certain heart problems. The fundraiser will help researchers develop medicines that will hopefully some day find the cure for these diseases. This event will be organized by the P.E. Department starting February 1 and ending March 1. Columbia has been the No.1 school in Madison City Schools to raise money for this organization and this year we are looking forward in continuing our streak. Jump Rope For Heart forms will be given to each class during PE.

Thanks,
Coach Fields and Mrs. Stringfellow
